DescriptionThis is the second of the early George Lichty cartoons that I've recently acquired. This one too likely appeared in Advertising & Selling, a publication devoted to the advertising business. You can see how Lichty's drawing at this point was boxier and more angular. There's a great weight to the figures, which he maintained their looseness.De "Rule of Three" in this piece also refers to an advertising strategy, similar to the 1+1+1 of the other piece. This cartoon was done for Botsford, Constantine and Garnder, a well-known advertising firm in Portland, Oregon in the 1930s. Social/Sharing |
