Wonder Woman by Steve Lieber

      Steve Lieber created this Wonder Woman figure on a 9” x 12” art board. I love the dynamic pose although it also confuses me. Diana is shown above clouds but doesn’t have the power of flight. It looks like she’s jumping off one legged while also rearing back her right arm. It almost looks like a baseball player the moment after tagging second base and trying to get off a throw to first base. The drawing appeared in the Helioscope Studio Etsy store and I was happy to make the purchase. Steve was a contributor to the science comics by Jim Ottaviani and he was artist for the Whiteout books created and written by Greg Rucka. US Marshal Carrie Stetko is a great character. Steve showed off some clever effects to depict the Antarctic setting. I saw Steve at some California conventions and he often drew a little remarque when I asked him to sign a book for me. I signed up for a few con sketches. When I started skipping San Diego and going to Seattle, I would see and chat with Steve annually at Emerald City Comic Con from 2014 to 2019. He often directed me to some of his talented Helioscope Studio mates.
