Tim Sale’s run on *Deathblow* reshapes the series with stark, expressionistic visuals that intensify its brutal, introspective tone, and Issue #7 exemplifies this shift.
The story pushes Michael Cray into a psychological and almost spiritual confrontation, blurring the line between mission and morality as he wrestles with guilt and a fractured sense of purpose.
Sale’s heavy inks, suffocating environments, and stark silhouettes emphasize Cray’s isolation, while the supporting characters serve as reflections of his doubts and violence.
The issue builds tension through mood rather than spectacle, using deliberate pacing and charged dialogue to reveal layers of paranoia, faith, and desperation.
As a result, Issue #7 becomes a turning point that forces Cray to reevaluate who he serves and why, standing as one of the most atmospheric and character-driven chapters of Sale’s contribution to the series.

It might as well be a full splash of Tim Sale!  This is the tough grit and grime action hero from the old school 80's that the title promised!  No fantastical CGI and all practical effects of blood and guts.  Quite a complex image with sparks and firepower while the train is in motion.
