Description

I picked up the trade paperback collection of the story in 2008. The book had been out for a decade before I found it. Sigh... You can read a good review of the series Herobear and the Kidhere.

I immediately wrote to Mike about a commission, but it took awhile to make schedules and funding meet. That fortunate occurrence happened with his Ham and Eggs Kickstarter.

The process was a little slow, but Mike was always in touch so I didn't care. I knew I'd like it when I got it.

So, this Christmas rolled around and Mike shipped it secretly to Kathy to surprise me. That worked. He vastly over delivered. In the package, I found:

The finished commission seen above
The preliminary for that commission (see Additional Images)
A second commission idea that he had and wanted to draw because he liked it (see Additional Images)
A Christmas wish from Herobear himself! (see Additional Images)
A very funny JLA print
A Herobear and the Kid print that shows the transformation

I'm staggered.

I am sure I misread it, but you have been waiting 17 years for this? it is nice by the way. the JLA is also really a funny piece. Congrats.

Herobear and the Kid was actually one of the few indie books Wizard magazine kept mentioning as a don't miss. It's great to see that Kunkel is still in the game and doing top notch cartooning. The theme here is very much in harmony with the series.
