I love Felix, I love magic carpets ! Gorgeous art by Joe Oriolo.

"I love "Felix Pulls Through" ! I remember my father penciling and inking it like it was yesterday. I was fascinated when Felix threw the magnetic ore into the air and the cannonballs and weaponry were attracted to it, thereby veering away from Felix. I totally remember when my father drew the cluster of cannonballs all stuck together; I watched with baited breath as he inked it, and I could see it coming to life."

Flying carpets seemed a regular feature of Felix's adventures in that run. Lovely fluid lines and a pleasing pace to these pages. The story has all of the visual invention of the cartoons.

I found a 1928 cartoon titled Arabiantics, where Felix rides a flying carpet to an Arabian bazaar...

The funny animal genre was domiant in the 50's thanks to Disney and Felix. Felix held his own with great flow of action and some precise inks that could have played just as well in the cartoons.
