Description
I picked this one up over 15 years ago - before a slew of Joe Kubert covers came out and a bunch were sold at HA - so turns out I 'overpaid' by at least 20% - but time heals all wounds.

This cover now fits perfectly in this gallery with the first appearance of Heller from 1969.

I was in a B&N quite a few years back and there was a DC Women hardcover that included this cover in a small illustration, on one of the pages which was cool as it is a bit esoteric.

Time tends to also eliminate all losses - especially when the art is as good as this! Wonderful art, with beautiful confident strokes of the brush to add so much form and texture to the figures. Glorious cover!

This one was well worth overpaying for.  This is premium content from Joe Kubert!

Hell of a cover! Love Kubert's brushwork on Heller. Excellent choice despite the wallet regret.

What a fascinating piece. It captures two time periods in one piece of art. Social awareness has always been part of comics and this one is beautifully rendered by a master.

The viewer can easily take his rifle from him as he has his back to them. Lol.

What a striking cover! Fabulous first appearance of Heller of the Helkats! Beautifully composed and superbly inked. Joe Kubert demonstrates once again why he deserves to be regarded as one of the masters of comic art.

When it comes to War stories, nobody tells'em better than Joe Kubert. This issue featuring a female GI named Heller or the Hellcats is a classic example. And look at the artwork! Kubert's brushwork was superb and gave his books a unique look.

Impressive (but, then, is there any other?) Joe Kubert cover! The stance of the Hellcat, with her back to the "camera" is a bold composition choice, indeed! And, beyond, her, the circular display of the GI's crew, each with a different attitude and unique look!

What a great cover! Beautifully drawn and nicely inked by the great Joe Kubert. Still feels relevant today,.
