OK. Here's the story of how I got this sketch.
WIzard World Chicago '03, I line up to get a sketch off of Gene Ha, but he's finishing.
Gene tells me that he'll do it tommorow, and that if I give the CBLDF $40 or more I'd get a special sketch.
So I ran over and gave the CBLDF $60.
One thing lead to another and I became friendly with the guys and volunteered.
Con goes on and I keep seeing Gene, but he's always having to run off. Eventually, Sunday evening comes along, and I come back to the CBLDF booth after getting donations and Gene's sitting there drawing this GORGEOUS Superman, in a sketchbook.
He finishes and hands it to me. I say thankyou and as he's going I say,
"Gene is this your sketchbook?"
Turns out, that it was someone elses and Gene has to give it to them.
And I went home to London with no sketch.
Well time moves on, I'm the UK CBLDF rep, and I'm going back to Chicago. I contact Gene, and he comes along and does this for me.
He promises that NEXT year he'll draw a starry space behind him.
I don't know about you, but I think it was worth the wait.
