Nice to see you reaching back for some nostalgia hits, Jason! Lapham wasn't flashy, he was simply a solid pro who could tell a clear story. I recommend his infy "Stray Bullets" series though. I admit I didn't read a lot of it, but what I did tread was really entertaining. And yes, a big part of the fun for me in seeing Valiant's rise, was that it "proved" to me that my theory that Shooter was the main reason Marvel was so much fun and saw so much groth in the 1980's was because of his direct guidance as Editor-in-Chief.
Read a lot of Stray Bullets. Agree on Lapham and Shooter. Saw Valiant fall apart in every way after he left.
It's a legendary Valiant #1! Complete with the signature glue staining! It had such impact with the exhuberence of the 90's!
Yeah, I still think some these Valiant stories were some of the best of the time.
