Description
I had this one up in the past and I wanted to pop it back up today. Rest in peace Chuck.

This is the original painting. It hides behind the door of our guest bedroom facing the bed, so that when guests at our house close the door for a night of slumber, they find Chuck Norris watching over them.

Who wouldn't want a barechested Chuck Norris watching over you? The title is particularly well suited, as Arete is a greek word meaning superior.

If you're not familiar with Brandon Bird, check out his website at brandonbird.com. He's done a lot of gallery shows and comics themed work, along with a lot of work for McSweeney's.

This painting was featured in a Newsweek article you can read here:

RIP! They say Chuck Norris's tears held the cure for cancer, but alas, he never cried!

Ooh, I haven't checked in on what Brandon's been doing in a good long minute. Time to scroll his site for artful wonders new and old.

Nice and shiny peace and the hundreds of Chuck's jokes about allmighty dominance will always remember us him (RIP March 19, 2026 at 86)! Out of fear, Death didn't come for Chuck Norris, Chuck Norris told Death that he was ready.
