As nice a Kirby DPS as I think I've ever seen.  Jack and Mike at the absolute pinnacle of their respective careers.  Masterful and dynamic layout by Kirby with some of the most beautiful inking Royer has laid down on paper.  They don't call this man The King for nothing.  Wow, wow, and WOW!!!!!

Wow! One could you look at this spread for a long time to see all the wonders he drew in this one. So much too see!

Absolutely epic and incredible Kirby/Royer DPS to kick off Black Panther's first solo series!!! I remember when you picked this up and shared it on a video with Yo several years ago. Wasn't sure if you were holding onto it or not with your recent shift in strategy but I'm glad you did. It's phenomenal!!!! Huge congrats dude.

Such an outstanding piece of comic art! Great design, especially. Big props to Royer, who has, along with Sinnott, in recent years has become one of my top two Kirby inkers of all time.

I also like Chic Stone and Bill Everett but Royer and Sinnott are definitely tops.

What an amazing piece!  Love the design in this, obviously.  And to have Black Panther, a carnie barker character in a pin striped suit and bowler, an armored Aztec warrior, and all those cultural artifacts and natural specimens in one image makes for a spectacular and unique Kirby image

The King! I remember that issue so well (and have a page from it). The cover had me hooked, but when I saw that DPS I was just so excited about what was to come. The framing is perfect, as you now a fight will ensue. You even have a signature! As I recall, getting control of a couple of books, iincluding BP, was a condition of Kirby returning to Marvel, and the Jungle Action storyline got dropped as a result. But that might be one of many apocryphal stories about Kirby's relationship with Marvel.

Stellar! Love the Aztec background. Cool that he put the victim's back and back of his chair facing us. Love the menacing villain dominating the left third of the piece. I didn't realize he was working on 3-4 projects while doing this issue. He was an incredibly imaginative, hard working, and kind human being without whom the Marvel Silver Age probably wouldn't have come about or wouldn't be anywhere as great as it was.
