Spider-man / Superman 1 cover

Cannot thank Ed McGuinness enough for the opportunity to add this stunning cover to my collection. Ed's Superman/Batman run is a favorite of mine and, while I'm late to the party on his ASM run and am playing catchup, I absolutely love his Spider-Man. So when I first saw ads on IG for Ed's "Spider-Man / Superman 1" variant the chase was on for the Original Art! Thankfully it worked out and I'm very happy to have scored this instant classic cover featuring inks by the immensely talented Cliff Rathburn over Ed's original pencils!

The published "Pilot Season" exclusive is limited to 3000 copies, but it seems like very few knew how to buy it by signing up for GonkBonk's subscription service... and now the deadline has passed to even sign up for their April 2026 drop that is guaranteed to include Ed's variant cover... BUT on April 5, 2026 GonkBonk.com made 1900 copies available for purchase stand-alone -- it seems EssentialSequential is the actual backer of this exclusive variant cover (intended to include Jeph Loeb signed copies)... seems its inclusion in the April "Pilot Season" drop was just to recoup costs and spread risk with a partner. Jason@EssentialSequential and I had a falling out recently but I do thank him for 1) commissioning Ed to do this cover 2) passing on purchasing this original art when Ed gave him first refusal.
