Approval Cover to Flash #174

I have long been a huge fan Carmine Infantino's Silver Age run on the Flash. particularly his covers featuring Flash battling one or more villains from his Rogues Gallery. If I had to pick one of those covers as my favorite, it would be Flash #174 with a group of his core Rogues looking down on a defeated Flash. I realized that I would never own the original cover art to this issue if it even still existed somewhere. However, a number o years ago I saw the approval cover from the Jack Adler collection for sale. I figured this would be the closest I would ever come to owning something associated with the original production of this classic cover. An approval cover is a limited printing of the comic book cover that was given to a DC Comics executive prior to the printing of the comic. Once final approval was given, the comic could then go to press. As noted, this cover comes from the Jack Adler collection. Jack Adler was an award winning colorist and Vice President of Production at DC Comics where he worked from 1951-1981. Despite Adler's efforts to save DC's approval covers, many were thrown out or destroyed. Thankfully, this was one of the covers Mr. Adler saved.
