Fun homage, nicely executed. And it's great to see the Invaders in there. Bucky looks so excited to be getting into a fight.
Byrne baby, Byrne!
Inspired work by Byrne! It's X-Men adjacent enough to give this excitement and nostalgia on what Byrne could have done if he had the X-Men assignment earlier.
Certainly my favorite of the Marvel: The Lost Generation covers! The classic heroes vs. heroes faceoff is great, especially when it gives JB a chance to draw The Invaders! The rarest of treats though is the inks by the incomparable Bjorn Heyn; congratulations on a terrific cover!

Nice Byrne homage cover. Not familiar with the inker, but he did a decent job on those tough to ink Byrne pencils.

John Byrne was on fire when he drew this cover! What a great homage to Dave Cockrum's Uncanny X-Men #100 cover! Love Bryne's treatment of the Invaders, especially Captain America and Namor! Very cool pick-up, congrats!

I may have an explanation for the "Heyn" credit here.
In his first issue of FF#232, Terry Austin was slated to be the inker. But then Austin backed out for some reason, and Byrne ended up inking himself. However, the credit box for the issue was already laid out at that point, including a separate inker credit. Thus Bjorn Heyn was born to fill in the gap.
I've seen Byrne's pencils on the Lost Generation covers, and on every one, he signed it "Byrne + " , leaving space in the circle for Milgrom to sign it. I suspect it's the same situation - for some reason Milgrom didn't ink the cover after all, so he brought back Mr Heyn to fill in the rest of the circle.
Here's another interesting point - by the 90's, Byrne tended to ink over breakdowns, as he had gotten good enough with detailed inks that he realized that he was wasting time doing tight pencils if he was able to draw in details directly in ink, anyway. He would only do this when he knew he was inking himself ahead of time, and would only do full pencils when he knew that someone else is going to ink it.
I've detected a slight visual difference in the result when Byrne inks himself over breakdowns versus full pencils, and I detect that the latter probably happened here - I bet he fully pencilled this expecting Milgrom to ink it, instead of relying on the inks to do most of the work as usual.
