Description

9-2025...John Stewart, what did you do??? A very cool GL cover highlighting the space shuttle. The story itself was not so interesting - more of a filler during a short break in Gibbons' run - but what a cover!

It's definately cool and nostalgic to see the Space Shuttle appear on a comic book cover from this era. Never read the issue myself, but the cover intrigued me enough to follow this auction when it was last sold (can't recall where. maybe Ebay?), cool to see it pop up now in a gallery I know! congrats.

Very cool! I knew I remembered it from somewhere haha, I may have even bid on it earlier on when it was super cheap but not towards the end so you can blame someone else for bidding you up haha although I recall thinking that it was still a bit of a steal for a GL cover that old which also has NASA/Space Shuttle nostalgia built in. And believe me I am waaaaayyyy behind on posting to my own CAF page/galleries so I completely get it. I'm distracted and entertained by everyone else's posts these days ;)

Haha, yes I did get bid up (glad it wasn't by you!) but agree, compared to what it could have been (and what in the distant future it could be) worth, at the end of the day, I don't regret it. John Stewart and I are architects so we have a link, and the cover looks awesome IRL!

So, I take it that sunroof was not just an option?

Cool cover by the great Paris Cullins.

Haha, most likely not. What's funny - if I remember correctly- in the actual story John doesn't even interact with the astronauts! He kinda gets frozen by the gravity of the situation and his responsibility...luckily the astronauts course correct on their own and I think they didn't even notice GL! Of course at that point what else is a GL to do but go to Oa for training!

The only creator in comics who could handle a miniseries about OA refresher courses for GLs falling short of the mark would have to be Keith Giffen.  Hands-down.

I can see them making Ch'p run the wheel for hours!

Fantastic Green Lantern cover! Paris Cullins, an underappreciated artist, did a lot of great work for DC Comics and others.

Agreed Shemp! I was waiting to add a piece by Paris in my gallery for awhile and really pleased with this one!
