Description

Let's get right to it...The first panel of this Amazing Spider-Man page contains one of the largest non-splash page images of Spider-Man in the entire Ditko run between #1 and #38! It is also one of the most classic images, with Spidey swinging through the city, also ties as the largest Spidey Swinging through the city panel from the entire run with the former record sale from Comiclink in 2012 for the first panel page to crack $100k auction result!

Besides the above mentions, this page also features other elements that make it stand-out from the run of the mill: A fantastic 3 panel sequence features Peter and Gwen Stacy, which are rare in itself, with less than 20 pages in total of Ditko drawing Gwen, marking only her 3rd appearance. This quick 3 panel scene is a great representation of the beginning of Peter and Gwen's soon to be storied relationship. To put in context just 4 pages earlier Peter and Gwen had their first real interaction in comics! Not to mention the top right panel (another ideal classic pose) was later used as a mini poster in 1980 by Marvel revisited by Paul Neary. On top of all this, the 3rd panel shows our villain, the 1st appearance of the Looter, who later becomes Meteor Man.

The main selling point here are the Spidey images, though, and with this incredible top left panel, this piece of art is one of the best display pieces that one can find for Ditko's Spider-Man. Ditko's work is also at it's height on this page -- his intricate pencils and inks shine, exhibiting a striking contrast between the tense story panels featuring Peter and Gwen and the action packed panels featuring a more relaxed Spidey swinging through the city.

Steve Ditko Amazing Spider-Man pages are among the most coveted of all original comic art and high quality "costume" pages from the later issues of this iconic run are not easy to come by at any price. Also to note, this is the only third panel to feature Gwen on her own by Ditko, and this being her first and only 6 panel page with Spidey in costume. Furthermore, this is one of only a few with Spidey in costume on the same page as Gwen, which as you could guess, this is by far the largest and undoubtedly the best example you can feast your eyes on to feature both Spidey/Peter and Gwen from the historic Ditko run! As you can see there's so many reasons to absolutely love this page!!!

Superb top notch Ditko ASM, it doesn't get much better than those first two panels.
