Evening Primrose by Briana Loewinsohn, Oakland 2026

      Briana Loewinsohn is the author of the graphic novels <i>Ephemera: a Memoir</i> (2023) and <i>Raised by Ghosts</i> (2025) from Fantagraphics. I went to Flying Colors Comics for a joint signing with Gene Yang and Thien Pham, but Briana was ill. At the second Cape and Cowl Con, Thien called out to me and introduced me to Briana. She offered small packets of sketchcards marked Bits and Pieces. This year, I saw Briana at the inaugural Comic Con Oakland and she was painting a flower and had two finished pieces available. The two flowers were a perfect purchase for Mother's Day. Briana is going to be a Special Guest at San Diego Comic Con this year. Briana earned an Eisner Award nomination and a National Cartoonists Society divisional award nomination for her graphic novel <i>Raised by Ghosts</i>.
