Mack Bolan Executioner "inspired" the Punisher Hypodermic needle cover

Alightly different from pubished cover (can provide book)  The yedited out the hypo in the published version - probably by painting it out on a full size photo (once agai nthe published not published option fails!)



The Mack Bolan novels in which  Bolan's family is murdered and he goes to war agaisnt the mafia were published and incredibly popular before Marvel did the Punisher with a similar origin and storyline . Amazingly they were never sued on it. Even more amazing the Mack Bolan Executioner comic books never sold well!



22 by 14 inches I thin kacryllic but maybe oil on trimmed canvas  Herring did the covers for a long time maybe 100 or more books as there were also spin off series. Herring at one time had the contract to do editions of Edgar Rice Burroughs, Wizard ofOz and Tolkien as well as Mack Bolan- an amazing artist who worked extensoively in the 1980s and early 1990s and then retired to austrailia
