This fantastic sequence of four original production drawings from Mickey's Rival (1936) captures Mickey Mouse in a classic slapstick moment after Mortimer Mouse pulls the picnic blanket out from under him and Minnie, causing Mickey to get his nose hilariously stuck in a coffee mug. Seen near the 3:50 timestamp, this scene is a brilliant example of Disney's early comedic "rubber hose-style" animation. Directed by Wilfred Jackson, this short introduces Mickey's first true rival, Mortimer Mouse, an obnoxious, showboating troublemaker who delights in making Mickey look foolish. Walt Disney himself provided Mickey's voice, while Mortimer was voiced by Sonny Dawson, a member of Disney's music department who also provided the yodeling for the dwarfs in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
