2 years ago I hopped on the Feral train, albeit late, when Tony Fleecs and Tone Rodriguez appeared local to me to promote the book. That ended up being a great decision as Feral is a great comic. But during that visit I got a blank cover of the first issue, which Rodriguez was so kind as to do a quick remarque of the character Lordnon from the book
Well I had long desired to add to this blank with the series main character artist, Trish Forstner. Her work is known for its strong classic animation influence, and she's able to perfectly capture the style of some of the most beloved Disney films and cartoons. But what I see lessn mentioned is her skill in characterization, expression and design. The books Stray Dogs and Feral both showcase this greatly and she deserves recognition for it. The books characters are memorable and lively, and both fit perfectly into the cuddly aesthetic AND the brutal, unforgiving nature of the story.
This weekend at 3 Rivers Comic Con, she made an appearance and so I was finally able to make this happen 2 years after getting the sketch cover. Trish was a delight to interact with. I had requested a black and white sketch for my budget, and requested Chloe, who is one of Lords close friends in the book. She actually told me she'd never gotten a Chloe request before, and while we were talking about her career she ended up coloring it anyway. She says she needed to one-up Tone Rodriguez on the cover, and thats a hilariously welcome and much appreciated gesture for me. She also did a very quick remarque on my Feral Vol 2 trade, which was not requested. A class act!
Ill leave up the original Lord post im my collection so as to reserve my remarks about Tone Rodriguez' work as well, but this is now a great collaboration on the cover.
