Description

"The Well in the Desert!" by unknown writer. Tower Comics. Cover date August 1966. 

Desperate German and American soldiers fight over a water well in the North African desert. 

I get thirsty looking at this page. Soldiers in the desert melting under the blazing sun. Steam rising from the jeep's overheated engine.

The gaunt German face in panel 3 is haunting, presaging what will happen. Orlando's layouts probably gave the art its EC vibe.

And, of course, I like the jeep and half-track!

You can really feel the heat beating on the soldiers on this page!  Espcially when the paper itself is tanned from light exposure!

Nice work by Grandenetti! But damn, Peter, is it really appropriate to post this particular page when all of North America seems to be going through a vicious heat wave?!?

nkce looking page, we dont see much art posted from the desert area of the war, or movies for that matter, but so much history of the war happend in the desert climate,really cool page peter

You sweat just looking at this one! Normally we fight for land. Today it's water. Fantastic opening image.
