I never had this book. I've only seen the cover. Is this the only time they ever used the splash page as the cover? It's really cool!

The fact that it didn't go on as a series makes this even more powerful by being a signature image from the title. Kirby's imagination was boundless and 1st issue special was a way DC could show off everything Kirby's creativity gave them so they'd have it down the road.
