6.75x9.75" illustration board has 4.75x8.25" original art preliminary painting for the box front for Micro Machines Transforming Royal Guard/Death Star II Transforming Action Set. 1996 Galoob. Art depicts The Emperor in throne room, Millennium Falcon blasting the core of the Death Star, Imperial Shuttle w/garrison of Stormtroopers and Royal Guards. Painting very close to final box art. Art was by Otto Kuhni (1927-2017), who started doing freelance work in 1962, including some projects for Mattel that predate his involvement w/Hot Wheels (for which he is predominantly known) in 1967. Kuhni also produced freelance work for Lockheed, McDonald Douglas, Max Factor, L.M. Cox, Challenge Publications, Galoob and Tyco among others. Lt. aging/handling wear. Signed in lower right by Kuhni. Exc. Includes boxed toy that is open on one end, has damage and just comes along.
