Description

It's Independence Day week in the USA as I post this, so good timing to share my recent comic book original art recreation of Herb Trimpe and Bob McLeod's cover to G.I. Joe #1 from 1982. I upped my game authenticity-wise on this cover, hand finishing the blue pencil art with a vintage 1970s mechanical pencil, and inking hand-lettering (the bits that were hand-lettered on the original) the final art (boy, that Bob McLeod could sure ink tiny characters with so much detail!), with new-old-stock 1970s India ink, sable brushes and circa 1980 technical pens - all on naturally aged 2-ply Strathmore Bristol board.

As always there are five different anti-fraud measures I incorporate in my recreations to prevent any missuse. For more info on those and my recreations in general please visit my updated website for more info.

Looks great! The real one sold many years ago... hoping it comes around again!

Thanks! I couldn't find a scan of the original art to GI JOE #1 for this. I had to use a scan of #3 and some images from other Marvel covers published the same month as this to use as reference. If you have a scan or can point me in the direction of where I could find one I'd appreciate it.
