Description

This is the very first page from the first Nexus color comic book by Capital Comics.  Previously Nexus briefly started in a black and white magazine format for the first three issues. With this issue Capital entered Nexus into the fray, competing against the big two for space on the comic shop shelf, and vying for comic readers attention. It was a very brave thing for this pioneer independent publisher to do!

But these outstanding creators exploded out of the gate and quickly became fan favorites. Mike Baron and Steve Rude created a comic world that was so rich, with complex character development, well crafted dialogue and super-engaging plots. And Steve Rude's amazing art!

Nexus was a pioneer independent title that broke a lot of barriers. Baron and Rude's Nexus remains a truly an enduring science fiction masterpiece with a cast of beloved characters like no other. If you haven't read it, do yourself a favor!

This splash page from the first comic-size issue presents an engaging synopsis of the story so far, and serves as a launch pad for us to jump headlong into the captivating world of Nexus.

Perfect way to start if you ask me!

Ps- My undying gratitude to Marc K

Regarding what you said in your description, " Ps- My undying gratitude to Marc K" it raises the implication that you are an immortal! Should we start calling you Highlander or Nosferatu? Or perhaps you had a dip in the fountain of youth? There are many possibilities. Reveal your secrets, immortal one. Are you related to the elder gods? If so, what is Cthulhu like and did you whisper weird tales into Lovecrafts ear as he slept? What are shoggoths like as pets? Did I mention that I like Steve Rudes art?

The linework here is sublime.  Rude was the indies answer to Paul Smith.

Rude made this first page extra special with design work that bent the rules and showed that Nexus wasn't going to be a typical sci-fi cash in.  The advanced artwork was cutting edge and goes beyond the pale in every way possible.

Whoa!  Great page. It is amazing how the Dude improved so much from issue to issue. This is such a grail piece that you probably don't want any of your other Nexus pages and will be happy to sell them to me. I'm here for you, brother!

Although, for whatever reason, I never fully got into Nexus, the art was exceptional. Rude always struck me as a modern-day Russ Manning.
