Description

David Finch's artwork is like an excellent glass of port. When you first come into contact with it, it will start its sweet seduction. Then, after you've spent a little time with it, you will realize that it is so much better than you even though it was.

While some modern era artists exploit the amazing coloring techniques available today, Finch's art, in my opinion looks better without the coloring. It is all there, if you just wait for it to come to you. This is from Finch's only published Batman book (from what I understand), but if it is any indication, he should do more when his Marvel exclusive ends. Finch's pencils are indescribably delicious and Joe Weems shows us why he's so highly regarded at Top Cow.

2010 Update: With Dave Finch moving to DC and working on Batman (which is, of course, his destiny) it is very interesting to me to compare this piece from Finch's first published Batman story to the more recent published Batman work that he is producing. These developments make me very excited about what the future brings for Finch and Batman.

A very rare published image of a DC character by Finch that captures Batman in the cave perfectly.

An exquisite splash page. Finch is a very talented artist who does great justice to Batman. Hopefully, he will do more Batman art in the future. Congratulations, Artemis.

Brilliant. Finch is a master artist. He has done some Batman pieces for me, but nothing like a comic page

While Weems does compliment Finch's artwork beautifully, I can't help but wonder how Finch's pencils would have looked. You're right though some artwork should be published in black and white. A truly beautiful piece of artwork.

Beautiful page. While everything is great - the highlight for me is Alfred's depiction in the large top panel.
