Weigel wrote and drew The Sphinx in Big Bang Comics. He told me that when Kitchen Sink was publishing The New Adventures of The Spirit he contacted them about doing a story. They liked his idea and told him to send in a sample. He did this page and they went bankrupt. When the main image was used in Big Bang (probably one of their faux comics history pieces) he made the character into the Spook but we all know who he is really supposed to be.
