Description
This is going to be the first of several sketches of what I call the "Five Years Gone" line from the third-to-last episode of season one of NBC series Heroes. At first I wanted to completely capture Hiro Nakamura's first major teleportation with Times Square in the background. But since I couldn't find the right angle in my photos of Times Square I abandoned it and then came up with a before and after theme. Both the young Hiro and the hardened warrior above him involved incorporating much reference from vid clips from the Heroes Season One DVD. I made Future Hiro seem more like a shadow by avoiding solid lines save for the eyes. As for the full figure of Hiro in his infamous "YATTAAAA!!! pose, I adapted a little of Tim Sale's style and tried to lessen the traditional line art feathering to make it look natural. My one regret is I couldn't find a way to add the Kensei sword. Etched on 9 x 12 Mayfair Bristol Board with 6H and 4H pencils, graphic pen, and black markers. This will not be the last. If you want a print of this I can definitely oblige. YATTAAAA!!!
