DescriptionNeil's unique style is perfectly suited to the Batman. This piece is the perfect blend of dark and light. Awesome job Neil!!! And this is without a doubt one of the best renditions of Scarecrow I have EVER seen. The "trick or boom" is a great touch!!!Social/Sharing |

Neil - this is gorgeous. You need to get on a Batman book. Your style just evokes Batman. I also think your use of black and white is one of the best I've seen -- color would take something away from it. Get a bigger hat!!

Thanks,pal-I've tried on and off for years to get on a Batbook-even during the time an old friend of mine was an editor there- but the closest i got was a couple panels at the end of an ish of SUPERMAN ADVENTURES...and the odds of getting to do it in B & W...well... que sera...;o)

Neil -- I don't have a glimmer of understanding why Marvel or DC won't publish much in black & white. They reprint the Showcase material but most of that art was drawn for color. Paul Pope has had some success in black and white with DC although the last Batman work he did was color and I wonder if it was his choice. My dream would be a bi-monthly, or even quarterly, Batman in black and white. The market seems to be there given the already produced "Batman Black and White" series and trades. Image seems more open to experiments in color etc. Your work for them was fantastic. Parliament of Justice and the Black Forest were all really top, as was the Wild West. Thanks for the fun in comics and the Halloween treat -- thanks to Ari for sharing and for you for doing this glimpse of what could be.

Neil and Ari, this piece has everything that one looks for in a commission. The composition, characterization, and dynamics are spot-on. Neil, you have magic hands.
