Also making a rare stateside appearance, was Rian Hughes. He designed the covers of the new book and was also surprised to see little buttons of his new Johnny DC mascot on the table.
Those DC buttons are real popular with fans too. There's always someone reaching in to grab a few and some people will go around the whole booth to collect them all. Afterwards, they'll put 'em all on and wear them throughout the con.
Rian also designed the covers and logos for Howard Chaykin's recent Challengers of the Unknown series and Grant Morrison & Cameron Stewart's madcap Seaguy three-issue mini, respectively. Plus, all the covers for the sadly-departed Wildcats 3.0 with Dustin Nguyen and Joe Casey.
Together with Jim Lee, Rian's back on cover duty for Wildstorm, bringing more of a magazine look to their Intimates covers. They also premiered an exclusive variant cover to #1, which was even free of charge. What's not to love about a free comic with a new Jim Lee cover?
