Johane Matte (a.k.a. rufftoon) is a former storyboard artist for Avatar: The Last Airbender as well as drawing some of the comics that come with the Season 3 DVDs and in Nickelodeon magazine, so I was very excited to meet her since she really knew what I was talking about. She was wicked nice and patient as I completely turned all fangirl, gushing over her online comic, Water Tribe. Then she graciously drew this awesome rendition of my favorite character Uncle Iroh.

In the episode "The Firebending Masters" Aang and Zuko learn how to firebend from the dragons, Ran and Shao. It's alluded to that Iroh did so as well following his defeat at Ba Sing Se, was Johane has depicted here. This is exactly the kind of illustration that I love since it's mired in the continuity of the show.

A truly wonderful piece. I've been looking for Avatar art for some time. This is a great example.
