"The Sleeping Princess Wakes Up" by Tim Sale

OK, there's a funny story behind this one, but those never sound as funny as they really are when you actually type them out. Suffice it to say that my 4-year-old is a huge Hannah Montana fan, which came up in an after-hours bar conversation about the overblown Vanity Fair brou-hah-hah. Tim started to pencil this piece as a joke, but I eventually insisted he finish because it is a beautiful piece of art. I told Kelly it was a princess waking up and she's eventually come to refer to it as "Sleeping Beauty." Kids are great. Hey, so is Tim! He did a Batman, too, just in case I wanted to remove this one from the book before I got home. Seattle, May 10, 2008.
