Description
This beautifully drawn panel appeared approximately a month and a half after Clark began drawing The Neighbors in 1939. The piece is composed beautifully, and incorporates Clark's breezy ink and tonal work. The woman on the carpet states to the other two folks, "Now, we may have a little trouble with my Uncle Bert. I always have to put him out of his room when we get paying guests." Ah, relatives...

I believe this piece must have run twice. The panel borders were covered over at some point, and a new day and month was written in. The strip started on 4/24/39, so the date in the lower right cannot be from 1939. The piece is marked 1939 on the reverse however, in the engraver's markings. 7/12/39.
