This is my unprofessional and feeble attempt at coloring this piece. I don't own a tablet or high end software, lol.

When I was a kid in the 80's, I never would have thought I would art from Fred Hembeck.
I found that Fred was doing commissions, and after seeing his very reasonable prices, I decided to get a cover recreation, but I had to figure out which one. Then, when I was driving home that day from work, Amazing Spider-Man 16 popped into my head.
I wanted the commission to fit into my 'Spider-Wing' theme, and when the image of Spidey fighting Daredevil at the circus popped into my head, I knew that was the one. There was still the Hero vs. Hero motif, and it was at the circus and given Nightwing's origins, it was just too perfect.
I decided to have Fred draw Nightwing in his original, George Perez designed suit, since it's a retro cover and the costume fits more into the circus theme and fits Fred's style perfectly.
This commission turned out awesome, if I do say so myself, and the experience was made so much better by the kindness and professionalism of Mr. Hembeck. This will not be the last piece I get from him. check out his site!
