Description

This is a recreation of the cover to Strange Tales 114. I remember as a child reading this book at a local supermarket while on a summer vacation as my mom grocery shopped.
Of course the story's value has increased to me throughout the years because of it's significance in Marvel's Silver Age history. But as a young child I thought Cap had a cool costume. The whole story struck a chord and the cover was just so dynamic. Keep in mind, as hard as it may be to believe in this day and age, this was the first time I and probally many other baby boomers, had ever seen Captain America.
When I decided to try and get samples of the star spangled Avenger from all of Kirby's surviving inkers, this was the one I wanted darling Dick Ayers to do and I was lucky enough to pick this up.
Since there has been a lot of debate lately about the value of recreations let me point out this is definitely not light-boxed, you can see significant variations in the background figures as well as the inking of the Torch in the corner.
