Description

I always loved John Byrne's various homages to Jack Kirby covers. I never recalled him doing one for X-Men # 1. My idea was to have him do a homage to the original cover but with the team in their costumes they would have worn during Byrne's run on Uncanny. It was his idea to keep them in their original uniforms for the corner box. JB also hand lettered all the logos and I really like the added touch of the Comics Code logo being his signature. Thanks to Jim Warden for setting this up.

That IS weird that as many homages to Kirby as Byrne's done through the years we've never seen this one. It turned out great, too

This came out great! JB improved on Magneto's perspective in this interpretation. I really like Beast!
