About the author
Floris Oudshoorn
(b. 1967, The Netherlands)
Floris Willem Oudshoorn was born in an elevator on his way to the delivery room in Leiden, "an infant with hair down to the back of his knees who never uttered a single sound." He published his first comic book at the age of five, in an edition of two, redrawing the book after the first edition was given away as a birthday present. After finishing the Gymnasium in Wassenaar, Floris moved to Utrecht. He was admitted to the Arts School in Arnhem, where he finished with flying colors.
As an examination piece, he has admitted to making a comic book, 'Hoearjoe?'. He then moved to Amsterdam to set up the comic studio De Zwarte Handel with associate comic artist Maaike Hartjes. In 2002, a collection of his work was published with the title 'Ongezellige Verhalen'. His comic 'Swamp Thing' is published in the Amsterdam newspaper Het Parool starting in 2006, following the Parool comics contest.
One critic, impressed by the variety of styles in 'Aso!', assumed Floris Oudshoorn was a pseudonym for an entire studio of comic artists. Floris has done some animation work for the web. Source http://www.lambiek.net
