James O'Barr - The Crow "Alchemy"

large painting done for the 1993 Tundra Crow Portfolio.....

I first saw this painting when I met James O'Barr at the 1992 Detroit Motor City Comic Con - my friends and I drove all the way from Washington DC (and beyond) to meet him as we were huge Crow fans. He showed me this painting he had just finished and I just fell hard for it and couldn't stop looking at it, it was hard to draw myself away, he had to reassure me that it would be in the upcoming portfolio from Tundra, I knew I couldn't bear to not see it again.

A few years later when I heard the Bess Cutler Gallery would be selling all the Crow Art my heart stopped and I immediately got in touch..... there's a long story there and I almost missed out to a millionaire comic celebrity who wanted many of the pieces but things changed and I was able to get my favorite (after a 3 year layaway, it was no bargain!) but every day I get to see it and know it will stay here as long as I do!
