Okay, I have to admit, this is one of my favorite sketches I've gotten to date. It's right up there with the Scott Morse Fantastic Four on the inside cover and first page of this book (which you should definitely check out if you haven't already seen it!).
Stuart Sayger was announced very late as a guest at the 2008
Baltimore Comic-Con. He actually didnt even have a booth until the 11th hour, although he doesn't know that! (shh!) I had seen some of his work on the Internet, and was familiar with his work on DC's Bionicle licensed title, as my son is a subscriber to Lego Magazine, and the comic comes inside the magazine for free. Anyway, I asked Stuart for a quick sketch, and he said he didn't really do those, but he was in a gracious mood and said he'd try something quick. Well, he started going with this big black marker and just didn't stop. He kept going and going and going, and it was hard to see where he was going at first, but my God, where he ended up was a cover! Outstanding image of the Hulk in profile in the rain at night. Absolutely cool as hell. And he's really a DC kid, not at all a Marvel guy! Not that you could tell...
