I had already found my Dracula splash when this one popped up on eBay. I was the only bidder on this one and felt like I got the steal of the century. There can't be that many Count Dracula splashes or covers of Dracula in bat form as this one is. Plus this book is known as the first book that John Byrne did at Marvel. What a score!

I liked the diversity of the early Bronze Age books (the Conan books and the other fantasy books, the cool Spaghetti Western books like Jonah Hex and of course the monster books from both DC and Marvel). Marvel dared to make Dracula both the villain and main character of his comic and I think this page is a pretty good example of the non-Colan Dracula/vampire stories that were being put out at that time. It is as fine an in-your-face splash as you are likely to find.

Troy, a stunning splash, indeed! congrats! Virgilio Redondo, Nestor's brother, was truly a great artist in his own right.
