Description
From the World's Famous Comic Book Artists Portfolio by Editions Deesse, 1983. Really love this piece but was always puzzled by it. Far as I know Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table never rode horses with horns, bug eyes and spade tails!
Comic Book Creator #11: The Invention of Gil Kane (TwoMorrows Publishing, 2016). The good people at Comic Book Creator contacted me back in 2016 about using this piece for an upcoming issue (see Additional Images). I thought their retrospective was excellent, and I even learned about some rarities of Kane’s work to seek out and some cool comics to hunt down.
You should also check out Kirk Dilbeck's original version of this portfolio piece, inked by Scott Williams. It's really a great one too!
Hey cool~ I bought a precurser to this piece from Gil in the 80's and then had it inked by Scott Williams. Fun to see this version. At the time he said it was for a portfolio but mine wasn't 'detailed enough'
