VINTAGE BYRNE/AUSTIN!

Could they have known what they were creating, the wheels that they were setting in motion way back when? Claremont had yet to script a blockbuster title. According to interviews, Byrne was happy to be getting a monthly gig that wasn't for Charleston. Austin arguably was the most successful coming off of that seminal Detective run with Marshall Rogers. But the three of them together, were magical. Not only great comics, but in my opinion, this run, started by Cockrum, but catapulted into the stratosphere by Byrne and Austin, created the comics and movie juggernaut that is the X-men. And it started here. And you have one of the best pages from that issue. Congratulations on owning this historical piece!

I hope one day I can add a Cockrum,Byrne or Smith, Lee X-Men page to my collection. The page you have here is terrific and a fine reminder of why these stories resonated with me as a kid.

Great page! If you ever get tired of it, I'd pay you..... one THOUSAND dollars! (to be read in a "Dr. Evil" voice.) ........And,of course, I'm kidding.

Just saw this highlighted on CAF.  Did I mention I hate you for owning this piece?  Well, I did and I still do.  But am happy for you still the same.  Comic art generates such conflicting emotions ;)  Congratulations again my friend.

Breathtaking page! From the opening panel with its cosmic scope to the final panel with the X-Men returning home, the page has a majestic feel to it. Congrats!
