DescriptionThe Erciyes Fragments purport to be the "Journal and Notes of Fra Niccolo of Venice, Noddist Scholar and Itinerant Monk" and tells of his search for the Book of Nod, the vampire scriptures. This illustration comes from Chapter 2 which relates how Lilith, Adam's first wife, taught Cain how to use blood to power the various vampiric abilities or disciplines. The published text that was below this piece was: “This darkling strength, from which all force derives/ This devil's speed, faster than eye can follow/ This sweet illusion, sculpted in the mind/ These demon senses, sharp beyond all measure/ These forms of flesh, which now are mine to wear."
