Description"Cainite Heresy" was fascinating reading for me because the authors obviously knew their Church history. Vampires in White Wolf's "World of Darkness" setting believe themselves to be descendants of Cain/Caine. Like many Christian Gnostic sects, Cainites believed that the world was created by a malevolent demiurge or inferior deity. It was Cain's interaction with Sophia, the "Divine Wisdom" that gave vampires their immortality. In the introductory story "Mummers Psalm" the Papal Legate Damhlai d'Giolla Dhe had gone to investigate the Abbey of St. Anacletos and been offered leadership of the Cainite community there (though without turning into a vampire himself). Cainites were organized like the Catholic Church and had similar rituals such as the Blood Communion shown in this piece. (Bought from Michael Gaydos, 2009/05)Social/Sharing |
