DescriptionFrom the Classic Alan Moore and Eddie Campbell tale, great anti-climactic moment for one of the main characters, panel deals with making decisions based on morality, last page of chapter 13. 11"x16"From Wikipedia... "[Inspector Frederick Abberline investigates the Ripper crimes, without success until a fraudulent psychic, Robert Lees, acting on a personal grudge against Gull, identifies him as the murderer. Gull confesses, and Lees and Abberline, shocked, report the matter to superiors within the Police force, who work to cover up the discovery. They inform both Abberline and Lees that Gull was operating alone, and gripped by insanity. Abberline later discovers through chance Gull's actual intentions to cover up the matter of the royal 'bastard' fathered by Prince Albert, and resigns from the Metropolitan Police, protesting the official coverup of the murders. One critic noted that From Hell might be seen as a "police procedural as it follows Scotland Yard's Inspector Abberline throughout the case".]" Social/Sharing |

The accuracy of Moore's deductions (highly doubtful, it seems) are of little concern for me as a reader of fiction. In the context of the story that he and Campbell weaved, it was entirely believable. Their characterizations (of which, Frederick Abberline was one of the most complicated and fully realized), mixing of historical, political and fanciful intrigues and situations and exhaustively detailed efforts with both story and art, pulled me, as a into this world of shadows and light like no others who have tried to tackle this subject before.

Oops. Obviously meant to write, "…pulled me, as a reader, into this world of shadow and light."
