Description
One reason for the Ultimate Universe’s commercial success was that it enabled new readers to enjoy new books with popular characters such as Spider-Man and the X-Men without having to grapple with decades of back-story. But it also appealed to established fans by echoing stories told in the main titles. In the “X-Cutioner’s Song” storyline running thru the X-books in 1992-93, Cable (later revealed to have been his doppelganger Stryfe) attempts to assassinate Professor Xavier with a bullet carrying a lethal strain of the techno-organic virus. In this story, Cable also apparently kills the Professor with a grenade. But that was a ruse and Cable actually brought Xavier into the future with him (this page). The two were to return later (in armor that made them look like Onslaught and Stryfe) to aid the X-Men against Apocalypse. (Bought from Serge Lapointe, Fan Expo Canada, 2009/08).
