Description

I waited long to find a Perez's Avengers page that I like (and with a price right for me). Then, I saw this page 21 of Avengers #13 (volume III), from the good Busiek/Perez run. I think that it's a beautiful example of modern Marvel action style and of the style of Perez, too: Thor hit hard Lord Templar with his hammer in the first, great panel (note the perspective) , then it's the round of the enemy, but the god of thunder use his weapon again and the battle continues until both warriors see something behind them. On the leftside, wo New Warriors: Speedball (after the events of Civil War he'll become Penance) and Rage.
The perfection of Vey's inks exalts the details of all panels. I'm definitively satisfy. The page is signed by Perez at the bottom and the scan is taken by a photocopy: I assure that it doesn't give justice to the original. Thanx Michael to sell me this page at a honest price.

As a general rule, if the page doesn't have word balloons on it, I'm probably not all that interested in it. One big exception was when I too picked up a modern day Perez page. And it's not as if, on this page, he left any space for them anyway. It seems that Mr. Perez, freed from the worry of actually physically putting them on the page, just went crazy and decided to add as much art and detail as he could to every nook and cranny of every panel.
