Description
(June 1942) (Fawcett Publications) Considered to be one of most Iconic and Recognizable of Golden-Age comic book covers if not comic book covers overall, Mac Raboy's World War II Patriotic, "V-for-Victory" cover image is the only the cover in which Raboy meticulously rendered Captain Marvel, Jr. using the illustrative technique called "crosshatching". (Emmanuel “Mac” Raboy: 4/17/1914 to 12/12/1967)

I have so many fond memories of going through those color sections in the annual Overstreet Price Guide year after year, and just drooling over all of those amazing Golden Age covers. To see actual originals of those amazing images is an almost indescribable thrill. Congratulations on this unbelievable collection of Golden Age material, and thanks so much for sharing it with all of us!

Only 1300 plus views? One of CAF's best kept "secrets". One of the nicest pieces of art, from a artistic standpoint, on the site. Not to mention it is a GA cover, of a well known character, by a master.

This is a seriously wonderful cover. There's so little of his Captain Marvel Jr. work around to find such a wonderful example is a thrill. Thanks for sharing.

Even after some forty years of seriously collecting and possessing some truly significant examples, I can easily exclaim that Mac Raboy's "Master Comics #27" cover art is my "All-Time Favorite" piece I own and I am very happy that there are others such as "YOU" who feel similarly as me, Phil:-)

Keif, Raboy was unparalleled as an artist and draftsman! This cover is one of the greatest that he ever drew, indeed.  I'm cautiously awaiting to see the Shazam movie, as you probably are too.  It's blasphemy to even say Shazam, as there is only one true Captain Marvel in comicdom, and it's the Big Red Cheese.  ps: I'm sure that the Captain Marvel Family will make a cameo in the movie, including CM Jr.  You undoubtedly possess the greatest G. A. collection in the hobby, and I am proud to say that I was able to see it in person!
