Description

BAMMM!!! These pages are from the comic mini-series based on the infamous 1990 movie "The Adventures of Ford Fairlane". This movie was was set up to be a staring vehicle for raunch comedian "Andrew Dice Clay" . While appearing on the 1989 MTV Video Music Awards to promote the movie, "The Dice Man" earned a "lifetime ban" from the network when he started performing some of his already-notorious nursery rhymes, causing the movie crashed and burned at the box office. Personally, I still think it's one of the funniest movies I've every seen, and is a perfect coda to the 1980's Yuppie Greed Decade. The most amazing thing to me is, DC Comics had banned the infamous Swamp Thing #88 (Swamp Thing meets Jesus Christ...see, I even got this back to a TRUE easter story) just a few months earlier due to fears of offending the religious right, yet I was picking up the above comic at my local 7-11 right out of the standard comic book rack. Richie Rich, Donald Duck, and Ford Fairlane all together. UN F*CKIN' BOLEAVABOLE!!! And speaking of the Infamous Swamp Thing #88, this issue became one of my collection fevers over the last few years. I will display some of my art collection around this issue later on, but for now...

Yeah, life is full of little ironies and hypocrisies. A serious examination of Jesus by a talented, cutting-edge creator was a definite no-no for DC, but apparently they were a-okay printing a comic starring a potty-mouthed comedian with a penchant for flipping people the bird. Go figure!
