DescriptionWhile Jerry Robinson illustrated quite a number of the interior Green Hornet stories, Green Hornet Comics #25 would be the "ONE & ONLY COVER" that Robinson would illustrate for Harvey prior to leaving shortly before its actual publication. In fact, Green Hornet Comics #25 is also the "ONE & ONLY COVER" that survived of the mere few examples that Jerry Robinson actually "SIGNED" his name to. When I first showed the Green Hornet Comics #25 cover art to Jerry alongside a copy of the Green Hornet Comics #25 comic book, I pointed-out to him that Leon Harvey had his name "blacked-out" when the actual comic book hit the newsstands in the Summer of 1945. Jerry was never aware of this and of course, he was quite shocked when I showed this to him. He further explained that Leon Harvey most likely omitted his name from the Green Hornet Comics #25 cover chiefly because he handed-in his resignation prior to its publication and this was Harvey's way to spite him both professionally and even personally in a way. I also questioned Jerry about the fact that the Green Hornet Comics #25 cover image appears to be "both" a WW2 cover and yet also a CRIME cover. Jerry told me that since WW2 was "still" going on at the time he began illustrating the Green Hornet Comics #25 cover, he opted to make it a WW2-themed cover image. This is why the airplane is seen being hauled by the locomotive above The Green Hornet's battle below. After he had already completed the image of the train approaching the blown-up trestle; Jerry explained that since Leon Harvey said there was high optimism that WW2 was finally coming to an end shortly, that he should turn his WW2 Green Hornet Comics #25 cover art image into a CRIME image instead by simply turning the Nazis into Mafia members. Quite simply, because of Robinson's definitive style of working on "The Batman" strip for so many years, it is very easy to visualize the Green Hornet Comics #25 as a "Batman" cover instead with its main cover image being highly influenced by one of Bill Finger's "Gigantic Gadgetry" storylines from within.
