DescriptionI first became aware of Josh's work because of his friendship with my younger brother, artist Andrew Mangum, who has worked as Josh's inker on several projects. What I saw of his work blew me away with his hyper-detailed images, filled with so much energy! I had to know more.Sadly, I found out about Josh's illness right after that, and was especially struck by the fact that he was only a month older than me, so I wanted to do something, anything to help. For a while the prognosis looked very bad, and normal treatments weren't having any effect. So Andrew and I decided to arrange a benefit auction series on Ebay to raise the much needed money to pursue other alternative treatments. Thanks to all the love and support of so many artists, collectors, and just well wishers, we were quite successful and able to raise the money to get Josh the help he needed. Though still hard on him, Josh defied the odds and things looked better for a while. He got to spend more time with his family, he got to do a spectacular Marvel cover and was supposed to do more, and mostly, just had more time. We can all be glad for that! One of my main regrets is that I have never gotten to meet Josh in person, as I live on the West Coast and he lives in the Mid-West. So our friendship has been phone/internet based only, as he can't travel this far for any shows out here. I would love to buy him a beer and just talk art as he is just as much a fanboy for other artists as all of us are:) I am just glad that I was introduced to him and his work when I was, and I am very happy & appreciative to be his Art Rep and help him get his art into the hands of his fans, who are some of the best and most supporting fans I have ever had the priveledge to meet. This piece was Josh's thank you for the Ebay benefit auctions. He was so touched by all the love and support of artists, collectors and fans everywhere that he wanted to do something special and decided a cool limited color print would be nice. So he asked me what I thought he should draw, and I of course said Spider-man, because anyone who has seen Josh's Spidey knows he rocks it! He ended up doing so much more than that, including 4 of his favorite characters to draw. Then, after we sent out the color prints to all the benefit buyers, he gifted this original to me as a personal thank you. It has been a treasured piece in my collection ever since and it looks great on my wall. When I look at it, there is some sadness there, but the work will live on and I will always love this piece! Best of luck on everything, Josh! Social/Sharing |

I love this piece, and I'm not even a huge Spidey fan. Great work by Josh.
